Hi, I’m Nicole Moss

Hi friends, 

I’m Nicole Moss, Co-Founder of Moss Consulting, a talent acquisition and HR consulting company based in Austin, Texas. For almost eight years, we’ve been helping business owners build strong teams and better workplaces through customized human resources consulting services. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about people, business growth, and the beautiful chaos of entrepreneurship. 

I wanted to start this blog as a space to share what I’ve learned about HR, leadership, and the experience of being a woman in leadership. My greatest passion has always been company culture—creating workplaces where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to do their best work. Think of it as a personal journal mixed with a peek behind the curtain at how managed HR services, fractional HR, and payroll outsourcing really work in practice. 

How I Got Here 

My career started in admin and office management, where I learned the backbone of how great businesses operate. From there, I joined Pioneer Energy, where I dove into operations and the importance of aligning people with process. When life brought me to Austin, I had the chance to work with some incredible companies including Live Oak, Lead Commercial, and a boutique law office. Each role taught me something new about leadership, organization, and the human side of business. 

Those experiences shaped how I approach HR today, not just as a consultant but as a trusted advisor to business owners. I’ve built Moss Consulting around the belief that HR should be human first, helping clients feel confident and supported while managing everything from compliance and benefits administration outsourcing to hiring and retention. My strength has always been building trust quickly, meeting people where they are, and helping them move forward with clarity and confidence. 

The Fun Side of Me (Because Work Isn’t Everything) 

When I’m not helping companies grow or designing human resources outsourcing solutions, you’ll probably find me doing something a little less conventional like jumping out of planes. I’m also the “cool aunt” in my family, which means movie nights, spontaneous adventures, and ice cream are part of my brand. 

I’m also a bit of a poker junkie. I love the psychology, the intuition, and the people-watching. Honestly, it’s not that different from HR—it’s all about reading people and making strategic decisions. And because I can’t sit still for long, I also host a podcast where I get to talk about business, leadership, and the stories behind the people who make things happen.
