Avery Walters

Hi! My name is Avery Walters. I am a Management major with a focus in Human Resource Management at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. Through my academic studies and professional experiences, I have developed a strong interest in human resources and the ways organizations can foster collaboration among people from diverse backgrounds. As a summer intern at Moss Consulting, I am excited to expand my knowledge of fractional HR and gain valuable insights into how strategic people practices help businesses thrive.

The Intern Insider

About Evie Fisher

I'm Evie, a Strategic Communications major at Texas Christian University, and I'm so excited to be running this page this summer. When I came into college, I knew I wanted a career that let me use my creative side; I just didn't know what that would actually look like yet. Through my major, I've gotten to explore so many interesting areas, like building campaigns, research projects, graphic design, website building, PR, and advertising, and honestly, I still haven't landed on exactly where I want to be career-wise. But Strategic Communications has turned out to be such a great fit: it's let me think strategically while also creating, designing, researching, and figuring out how to craft the right message for the right audience.

Moss Consulting is truly such a special place, and I look forward to everything I get to experience with this incredible team. In just a couple of weeks, this internship has already been so hands-on and learning-driven. I feel like I come out of each day more knowledgeable than the day before, which is exactly what I could ever want out of an internship. The team is so helpful and has enriched my learning experience so much. I feel that it's so important to learn in an environment you feel comfortable in, and the team at Moss Consulting really makes me feel at home. Getting to work with a marketing focus specifically has expanded my love for marketing and all the hard work that goes into it, and given me real insight and clarity into the corporate world.

This page is where I get to put all of that into practice: sharing the work I (and the other interns!) have gotten to take on this summer, the lessons along the way, and an honest look at what this internship has actually been like.

Summer 2026 Internship

A Moss Consulting Week in the Life: An Intern's POV

One thing I've caught onto fast with this internship is that every day looks a little different. Being a fully remote company has its perks, and I don't just mean wearing sweatpants during a meeting. I wasn't sure what to expect coming into a remote job. I had questions about whether the company would still feel connected, and how well I'd actually get to know my coworkers and the fellow interns. I've been pleasantly surprised by how well Moss manages that dynamic. Four weeks in and I cannot believe how much we've already gotten to do. When I pictured a summer internship, I imagined a lot of watching and waiting. Moss has been the opposite of that from day one.

This week, Avery got a true hands-on learning experience. She got to sit in on a real client meeting alongside Nicole, one involving a Performance Improvement Plan, which is about as real as HR gets. It's both interesting and uplifting watching the other interns learn, and we bond through the fun experiences and crazy HR stories that come out of each week. What stood out most was watching a difficult conversation handled with that level of composure and professionalism, the kind of thing you just can't learn in a classroom.

Cayman spent the week getting more comfortable with the ticket system, reviewing, organizing, and rerouting tickets to the right team members while shadowing different people across the department. Getting that kind of access to daily operations so early on has given her a real understanding of how everything fits together at Moss. Seeing how every role connects has been one of the most valuable parts of being here.

My personal highlight was sitting down with Steve to start planning the upcoming podcast shoot in late July. I'm taking the lead on guest selection, invitations, and scripting, which is not something I expected to be doing four weeks in. Between that and brainstorming for the intern blog, it's been a full and exciting week. I'm also starting to feel more confident sorting tickets, something I didn't think I was very capable of at the start of my internship. With the help of this team, the learning curve feels a lot less steep than I expected.

It's been the best mix of learning, laughing, and figuring things out as I go. Here's a peek at what that's actually looked like:

  • Hands-On Mentorship
  • Advanced HR Technology
  • Collaborative Team Culture
  • Professional Development Focus
