I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when coming into my first week. Starting anything new is both nerve-racking and exciting - especially my first internship. I can say without hesitation that this first week set the tone in the best way possible.
Week One Reflection
On Monday, we covered the basics. We got our computers set up, got to know Nicole and some of the team, and did a couple of calls with Hannah and Nyah. Nicole entertained us with numerous HR stories - some of which I've already told my friends. One thing I loved was Nicole’s energy - not just on Monday, but how consistent her uplifting spirit is. The way she talked about each and every person on the team was admirable, and her face would genuinely light up. I quickly caught on to the fact that Moss Consulting works as a team; a team that helps each other and wants the best for each other. I was constantly impressed by how well everyone seems to get along, and it shows with the growing success of this company. One of the things that I was nervous about when starting an internship was a high-pressure, tense environment. An environment like this isn't only difficult to learn in, but leads to fear of showing genuine curiosity when trying to dive into new topics. I left day one feeling happy and confident that I would grow a lot by the end of this summer with a team like this on my side. I also loved going to Frontera and getting to see Ches and Jodie - they seem like they have great energy in their workplace as well.
Tuesday was definitely more informative - I learned all about HubSpot, Fireflies, QuickBooks, Teams and how to operate each platform. Thanks to Hannah's videos, I was able to complete a lot of my tasks and figure out how to navigate these websites. We also learned about tickets and how those work through Nyah. I honestly left Tuesday a bit stressed because I was nervous about getting the hang of tickets. One guiding value that i constantly saw was customer focus. Nicole not only reiterated this many times, but i got to see it firsthand when she would join meetings with a customer. Her focus was all in on them, and Cayman, Avery and I learned quickly to be quiet during these calls. I admired how well Nicole handles her meetings with such grace, especially in stressful situations.
The last couple of days of the week included a lot of completing tasks and making sure I had everything in line. I was pleasantly surprised to be put on the marketing team, and I am really excited for my role there. I feel as if my “niche” lies more in that area of HR than a generalist, and I’m happy that I get to contribute some of my strengths to this work.

Overall, I'm so excited for this summer and am thrilled to be a part of the team. Thank you for an amazing week one!
